Africa´s Climate Venture Builder wishes you a great start into 2022!
It’s been another exciting year full of change at Persistent. We want to take the opportunity to wish you, your family, and colleagues a wonderful end of the year. Although we are all facing new challenges to achieve our goals, we hope you are also looking back on an impactful 2021.
We are thankful that despite the travel restrictions this year, as a climate venture builder we were able to work hands-on with our partner companies on the ground. In a time when e-meetings and video calls were the main forms of working together, we managed to connect and successfully build projects on a physical basis, with missions on the ground for extended periods in DR Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa.
We can proudly announce that together with our partners Triple Jump and GreenMax, Persistent has been awarded the EUR 49 million mandate from the German development bank, KfW, to manage the Clean Energy and Energy Inclusion for Africa Foundation. We will end 2021 with two new portfolio companies and start the new year with three exciting deals in the pipeline in the areas of off-grid solar and e-mobility. We have been able to grow our team, reaching nearly 20 professionals now, 75% of those based in Africa.
Despite all challenges, we believe the Africa climate space will be an exciting place for startups in 2022. We look forward to additional opportunities to bring our investing style of human + financial capital to many new climate ventures this coming year.
Persistent wishes all of you, your team, friends, and family a great start to 2022!
