The Persistent Africa Climate Venture Builder Fund (Persistent ACV Fund) is a $70 million target early-stage climate fund supporting entrepreneurs across Africa’s Energy, Resource and Agricultural transitions, including Ecosystem Enablers. The Persistent ACV Fund combines equity investment with Persistent’s Venture Building to help climate ventures grow and scale across Africa.
The shift from a fossil fuel based energy mix to one with limited, if not zero, carbon emissions. This encompasses all solutions in which a clean energy component is a core element of the overall value proposition. (e.g., e-mobility, energy efficiency, residential solar, C&I solar, Productive Use of Energy (PUE))
Software, hardware and other solutions that support businesses across the energy transition. (Ex: Energy-related fintech)
The process of transforming the conventional practices and systems of agriculture towards more sustainable, regenerative, and resilient approaches (Ex: Black Soldier Flies, Biochar).
The shift from a linear production-consumption-disposal model to one of resource conservation, recycling, and reuse (Ex: Waste management, waste-to-X such as construction materials).
Software, hardware and other solutions that support businesses across the non-energy related transition areas. (Ex: Climate fintech, carbon monetization)
The Fund uses a blended equity structure designed to mobilize catalytic, development, and private capital to supportearly-stage climate innovation, while providing each group of investors with attractive returns.
The Persistent ACV Fund includes a Venture Building Facility designed to enable high-potential pipeline companies as well as investees of the Persistent ACV Fund to receive Persistent Venture Building services. The purpose of the Venture Building Facility is to enable the Persistent ACV Fund to drive the development and growth of its portfolio companies.
