As Africa’s Climate Venture Builder, we accelerate the growth of our partner companies. Our primary focus is on investing human capital and leveraging our expertise through hands-on operating roles as part of the management team of the partner company, at the board level or as strategic advisers. In addition to our human capital investment, we provide financial capital to support the growth of our partner companies. As such we have invested in 23 partner companies over the last decade (4 exits).

We leverage our deep network to help our partner companies raise capital required to grow their businesses. We work closely with the management team to prepare financial models and marketing materials, secure appropriate investors, negotiate key terms and close out financing transactions.

We create operational stability and enable growth of impact ventures by advising on architecture of IT solutions and implementing account management software and data-management solutions tailored for non-banks /merchants.
We work with companies to build their teams, from senior management to field agents. We assess a company’s growth needs, organizational structure and strategic plans and help them identify, acquire, train and motivate the people needed for success.
Among eight leading advisory firms, Persistent has a team dedicated to working with startups under the GET.invest Finance Readiness Support programme. The GET.invest Finance Readiness Support, a service of the European programme GET.invest, enables locally owned and managed clean energy businesses to access finance. Launched in 2021, the service provides early-stage, micro, small, and medium-sized energy companies in sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific with hands-on, in-depth business development advice and coaching throughout their fundraising journey. The concept is based on extensive stakeholder consultations and is being further developed in close cooperation with several industry partners. Through this initiative, Persistent can apply its Venture Building skills to several renewable energy companies in sub-Saharan Africa to support their efforts in securing funding and achieving financial stability.
