Each year, climate change is becoming a bigger challenge for mankind. It is increasingly relevant for companies all over the world to provide an account of their overall greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, also called CO2 equivalents (CO2e). We calculate tCO2e avoided by our PAYG companies based on GOGLA metrics. As for our C&I and PU portfolio companies, they already calculate this indicator for themselves as tons of CO2e avoided is one of the most important prerequisites to ensure sales.
Candi solar lowers carbon emissions from power generation
Candi finances and operates mid-sized solar PV assets in underserved markets where the baseline emission of grid electricity is very high. Our installations therefore help to considerably lower the carbon emissions from power generation whilst in fact boosting the cash flows of our SME clients thanks to a guaranteed savings model.
Since it is our company purpose to mitigate environmental damage from power generation, we consider it to be absolutely vital to track our positive impact on greenhouse gas emissions. In order to do so, we are maintaining control over our own production data leveraging a dedicated and tailored IT infrastructure that collects and stores the data in five minute intervals and makes it instantly available for further utilization. The data from the candi electricity meters is subsequently processed according to UNFCCC standards and thus reliably converted into a quantifiable environmental benefit measured in tons of CO2 equivalents.
In practice, the produced amount of energy is multiplied by a so-called grid emission factor that quantifies the typical carbon intensity of the local power network and is published by the respective grid authorities. The widely recognized method in conjunction with the digital setup and process enables us to determine and report our positive impact without any delays and on a very granular level.
